Overview
What is it?Since the publication of AGA Report No. 9 in 1998, multipath ultrasonic flow meters have become a widely used method for measuring flow in large pipelines, particularly in custody transfer of natural gas. This development is attributed to factors such as measurement accuracy, high turndown, resistance to installation effects, and cost considerations. However, like all meters, their performance can be influenced by the conditions in which they are installed. The design and operating conditions of upstream pipework affect the velocity profile of the fluid entering the meter. To reduce installation effects, the Q.Sonic-max is designed to comply with and exceed OIML R137 as well as ISO 17089 Accuracy Class 0.5, AGA9 as well as MID.How Does It Work? The Honeywell Q.Sonic-max USM is an 8-path meter that combines reflection technology with direct technology. Its patented path configuration is designed to provide low measurement uncertainty and extensive diagnostics capabilities. The meter uses two swirl paths with double reflection to support linearity and stability, and six direct paths to increase robustness, aiding in flow profile recognition and maintaining low uncertainty across various conditions. The reflective paths enable diagnostics that can identify swirl, fouling, or the presence of liquids in the meter. The direct paths enhance reliability in demanding applications, such as those involving CO2-rich gas compositions.What Problems Does It Solve? In accordance with ANSI/ISA-62443-4-1-2018 and IEC 62443-4-1:2018 standards, our updated Cyber Security Package features Transport Layer Security (TLS), parameterisation data encryption, and segregation of sensitive data encryption to ensure the highest level of cybersecurity.
